The Split

Over the last few months, it has become apparent to us that print costs are becoming too high to continue printing the 675-page Clement Sector Roleplaying Game Book which contains our setting, rules, and character generation.  Put bluntly, we were going to have to raise the price of the book to such a level that we didn't think folks would want to pay it.

Therefore, over those same months, we have been diligently working to split that book into three books:  The Clement Sector Core Rules, The Clement Sector Core Character Creation Book, and The Clement Sector Core Setting Book.  In many ways, this is a return to how we presented the second edition of the Clement Sector RPG and in, some ways, it is a new format.

This is not a new version.  However, we are taking the time to rewrite several portions, correct mistakes, and add new things to the existing rules and setting.  We're fixing all the known errors and, hopefully, not making new ones.

As for a release date, at this point, I cannot say.  We're taking our time to get it right and we intend to release all three books at the same time.  When it's ready, we'll put it out there and not before that.

Also, I'd like to say that most of you know me well enough to know that this is not something I wanted to do.  I'm on record as saying that I detest "new versions" and I often regard such things as a "money grab".  This is something that is necessary for us to do and we're already taking a loss on the hardcover Clement Sector Core RPG Book and it's not going to be long before we're taking a loss on the softcover.  I may be wrong, but I don't think the average consumer is interested in buying a RPG where the main book is $175+.

Again, this is not a "money grab".  If you're happy with the core book you have, there is no need for you to purchase this new set.  We'd love to have your support on this, but it is NOT going to be a necessity for you to "upgrade".  This is aimed squarely at allowing new players to get into the Clement Sector RPG without having to pay what the printing reality is going to force us to charge.
